PLANT AND FRUIT MORPHOLOGICAL AND QUALITY CHARACTERISTICS

The morphological and quality characteristics of both the fruit and plant that render the variety one of the best in the world are the following:

  1. Very lively and fruitful plant (approximately double yield per acre compared to the Hayward variety).
  2. Large cylindrical fruit, mean weight: 170-180 gr.
  3. No atrophic or flat fruit (needs virtually no thinning).
  4. Uses a limited number of pollinators (70% self-pollination, Hayward 2%).
  5. Impressive fruit uniformity.
  6. More than double vitamin C content compared to the Hayward variety (mg/100gr.v.b).
  7. More antioxidants compared to the Hayward variety (approximately 60%).
  8. More sugars.
  9. Particularly pleasant taste and unique aroma. .
  10. Highly preservable.

THE ECONOMICAL SIGNIFICANCE OF THE VARIETY IN KIWI FRUIT CULTIVATION

The variety's high fruitfulness, combined with the lower labor costs required to thin and harvest the fruit formulates a production cost that is approximately half that of the currently cultivated Hayward variety.

This on its own constitutes a very important competitive advantage, which, in combination with its other qualitative characteristics, create the conditions to trigger global interest and support its rapid development.
